Kick Your Own @ss!

A visual art contest meant to push the Artist to new levels and challenge oneself - above all it is a contest designed around the idea of you the artist, kicking your own @ss!

So what does this mean exactly?

The Rules:

1. Entrants must re-do an existing work!  You cannot improve an existing work, it must be done from scratch but with the same concept and idea of the work you have chosen to re-create.  (Plain and simple, don't open up the old work in your graphics program and tweak it, it must be completely re-done! Same idea for traditional works!)

2. You may include new elements into the new work, or you may choose to use all of the same elements from the existing work - but either way it must be obviously referenced from your existing work so the two can be compared, you want to see how you have improved over time as an artist!

3. Both versions of your work must be uploaded to either your galleries or scraps!

4. Both versions must be done in the same media.

5. The actual "Contest Entry" should show BOTH versions of the work: the old work on the left and the new work on the right, in large enough size so that they can be compared!

6. The entries' description should contain both links to the old work and the new work that are somewhere in your gallery or scraps.  Please also tell us which Category/Group you are entering into (see group descriptions below!) Also a brief critique from the artist would be great, let us know how you think you improved!

7. If you use any sources other than your own, for example stock, brushes, etc., don't forget to provide credit!

8. Entrants may enter as many times and as many works as they like, so long as all the rules above are followed.

Entrant Groups/Categories:

ALL Entries (defined as the image that shows the old version of the work on the left and the new version of the work on the right) must be submitted to the follow category on deviantART:

You do not need to note anyone your contest entry, so long as it is in the above category it will get seen!

However, in the description, let us know which art category/group you are entering the work into, below is the descriptions of the groups:

1. All Digital Paintings, Drawings, Pixel Art, 3-Dimensional, Vectors, and Vexel images

2. All Photo-manipulations, Mixed Media, and Miscellaneous images

3. All Traditional images

Groups are broken down as such to provide more room for prizes and fairness across the board, simply state to which group (or medium) you are entering your work into.

Prize donations are as follows, and there are a lot!  Thank you for all of your generosity!   Prizes are broken down per group, for instance, if you enter your new and improved photo-manipulation into Group 2 (for photo-manips) you would be eligible to win prizes from the Group 2 Prize category (depending on if you won and what for what place)
